I love reading paranormal and the moment I read Violca’s Dragon summary, I immediately know that I want to read the book. And in a way, I’m glad I did. It was a good break after reading a long, dragging and very SLOW pace fantasy story. Violca’s Dragon tells the story of Violca and how she uncovered the truth about her family. I love the strong bond between the sisters, and I admire how Violca try to stand strong for the sake of her family.
The plot and the way the story was written were beautiful, what bothered me most is how the POV changes without a scene break. It made me read back each time, just to make sure that I wasn’t misunderstanding it. It’s the same when Violca dreams. On the prologue was okay, but on the after the chapter start, I sometimes I start to wonder—while something exciting is happening— if I’m currently reading Violca’s dream or if it’s happening for real because there’s no indication that she is dreaming before she wakes up. However, that got better overtime.
The romance, well, I can’t really say much. I kind of wish more of something else and less… stripping, no, I liked the steamy, very steamy scenes, but I just wish I could read more than attraction and less possessiveness from Chase. I hate it when “his dragon” (which made my skin crawl when I read it in the beginning,) scream “MINE” Like, get over it!
For the side characters—which is actually one of the main reason I kept reading—At first, I was rooting for Eryk and Kati after the incident at the locker room. They are so sweet and cute! I feel bad for Kati having gone through that hell because of her picture being taken. Those jocks seriously need a good beating and hang on their feet naked. Hahaha, let see if they’ll be able to show themselves at school.
On the side note, my favorite scenes are with Scott and Kati. I actually wouldn’t mind if he ended up with her. *fangirl squeal!* these two make me giggle from their first encounter, that’s why I feel sad for Scott.
All in all reading this wasn’t a complete waste of time. The book made me smile, sad and occasionally laughed. I recommend it to people who like paranormal stories that felt very close to contemporary. I love how light it was to read the whole book and wanted to rate it four stars because I really enjoyed reading Kati and Scott story, but I’m rating it three stars because I was so disappointed at how unfair they (especially Violca) treated Scott. As one of the reviewers said. He’s a good guy, he didn’t deserve it. I wish Violca could have talk to him another way.
