Twilight (book1) by Stephenie Meyer

Summary:

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife-between desire and danger.Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

My Review:

To be honest I never much cared about this book, but after reading many of the negative reviews—some with a funny streak. I decided to give this book a try.

I have to say that I agree and disagree with many of the reviews. First, it wasn't that bad as some made it, but it didn't make me go "wow!" either.

Well, it’s not surprising since I'm not a big fan of vampire romance. This is my first, probably my last, since I have this written rule in my head that doesn't matter how good looking a vampire is, he/she still a bloodsucker. Therefore, a human shouldn't allow themselves to fall in love with them. Unless, the story tell that this vampire actually doesn’t need human blood, then okay… but that's another issue.

Second, I agree with some of the reviewers who said that it was really was tiring to read how handsome, good-looking, gorgeous, etc. Edward was.

Yes, he's perfect, but it really was annoying how every time Bella think of him, the first thing she mentioned or notice is how magnificent he is, and it's… yeah, in almost every turn. So, while I was reading the book, I started to wonder if she really is in love with him or just worships his beauty and mistaking it for love.

But even with all that being said, I think the book was okay. It's not my type, but I can say that it did entertain me a bit and help me pass the time.

I wouldn't mind reading the next book, but I'm not so eager to get it.
